Circumvesuviana is one of the main realities of local public transport (TPL) of the Campania region of Italy in particular and more generally, both in terms of territory is served population: transports, in fact, more than 38 million passengers with the service and Ferroviario more than 43 thousand passengers with the cableway service thanks to the work of its 1,800 employees.

Circumvesuviana is an integral part of the project MetroCampania that the Campania Region, through the Department for Transport, is carrying out under the Regional Transportation System Integrated.

To accomplish its mission, Circumvesuviana has implemented and maintains active since 2004 an integrated management system, certified by DNV, as required by ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 in the field of Quality and Environmental Impact.

Although not yet certified as required by the standard SA 8000, has chosen to follow the guiding principles in its activities.

As evidence of attention to the resource environment, designed and activated three PV systems from 50 kW each, located on the top of the station Porta Nolana Naples, on the Workshops / Storage railway Ponticelli and the covering of Officine bus Comiziano ( this last run from May 2008 by EAV BUS). The plants came into operation in July 2008.

At the flow station Porta Nolana Naples, on a monitor dedicated to information on departure times, is regularly displayed in real time, even the production of electricity installed.
